Taplas

The Parcel of Rogues
"The Parcel Of Rogues are an energetic five-piece Folk Rock band playing traditional and contemporary music from Britain and America. Their repertoire is diverse, from driving foot stompers to slow atmospheric ballads, plus a wide range in between! All performed with excellent musicianship, vocal harmonies and peppered with a great deal of fun, they are always well received by their audiences."

The Bear Band
"The BEAR BAND has been playing music for Barn Dances and Ceilidhs for the best part of the last 30 years. The Band has gone through many changes of personnel over the years but is still led by founding members, Huw Jones on Melodeon and John Howes on Bouzouki; together with Steve Passmore on Bass, Lyndon Whife on Drums and Nigel Haworth as their Caller they complete the present line up."

Kate Binningsley
"Kate’s alternative folk songs demonstrate powerful vocals and impressive guitar rhythms" **Aberystwyth Acoustic Platform**

The Potboilers
"The PotBoilers (some know them as the PotBellies) are the biggest Newgrass band in the UK. Newgrass is a term to describe their music, i think? Which is a new approach to Bluegrass music. Bluegrass was developed originally in Kentucky in the United States, and uses many Celtic folk tunes and songs such as Meysydd yr Amerig (The Green Fields of America) and Nyth y Gwcw (Cuckoo’s Nest) in its repertoire, though the Americans would probably argue that they wrote the tunes themselves! The PotBoilers have developed the old Bluegrass tradition, and included drums and electrics into their unique sound, and made it into Newgrass, forming the perfect music for all social get-togethers, halls and festivals."

Cajuns Denbo

Pontrhydfendigaid Celtic Music Society, Pontrhydfendigaid, Ceredigion
"The Pontrhydfendigaid Celtic Music (PCMS) is a recently constituted not-for-profit community group which aims to:

  • Promote traditional Welsh music;
  • Promote contemporary, traditionally based Welsh music;
  • Promote traditional and contemporary traditionally based music from other Celtic nations (Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Brittany, Manx)
The group currently has 35 full members and is gaining in support as each event is staged. We are based at the Black Lion Hotel in which we can develop our aims, which include providing one professional "Celtic Music Night" performance each month as well as one open music session where people can bring instruments and practise and develop their musical skills.
The Celtic Music Nights are run under the Arts Council for Wales "Noson Allan" scheme which provides a generous subsidy to encourage skilled musicians to come to smaller venues. "
